The thought of going to work that day made me want to throw up. This company had been my daily life for 10 years. I had felt stifled for a long time and had been hoping that this would be a conversation between two adults with the aim to solve a problem amicably. Turned out I was wrong! The previous day I had had a conversation with my boss during which he had said to me “Beatrice, if you cannot do it my way, there is the door!”
You can imagine how I felt! I was hurt, I was angry, and I had never been so humiliated in my entire life.
It’s been a few years since …. On that day I decided that I would never again allow anyone to control me, and my work life. Withing a few months I was introduced to AssistU, an amazing training academy for Virtual Assistants and registered for its “Virtual Training Program” (now called Virtual Mentoring Program.) 20 weeks later I was a certified Virtual Assistant and started my business.
That morning I drove to work and quit. Not only did I feel as if a rock had been lifted off my shoulders, I have never looked back. The rest, as they say, is history.
Are you an entrepreneur? If so, what was the one event that initiated the change for you to become a business owner?
Good post, Bea.
Thanks Pat, I find it important for anyone visiting my website to know what motivated me to step out of my comfort zone and start my own business.
Thanks for sharing your story, Beatrice. I’m sure your boss thought you had no choice and would never take action.
Good for you!
I am so happy you and I connected!
My experience as an entrepreneur has been so positive I know I will never be an employee again.
Cheers & Vugs, LL
Thanks Laura, I agree on both counts. I also know I will not want to be in an employed position anymore. Having connected with you at AssistU has changed my life! Thank You for that!
